Salton Sea, Bombay Beach, CA

A real ghost town on the Salton Sea. The sea is more of a lake 235 feet below sea level. It's salty and though it's a beach, it's not very nice. It's covered with dead fish. Apparently something killed the fish then the birds ate the fish and died too. Kind-of an erie place...

Stinky too.

Covina Beach, Salton Sea State Recreation Area
The beach is crunchy with barnacle shells and dead fish. We didn't even dip a toe in the water.

Someone had high hopes for this area. There are loads of picnic areas and campgrounds. Miles of state reserve beach, and abandoned motels. Again, we are the only ones here. Theme for this trip- "We go where no other tourists will go."

Family consensus- we do NOT want to move here. In fact, we never even have to come back for a visit.
