Hume Lake

A lake created when a logging company built a dam. They needed water for a 60+ mile flume to transport the logs. The logging company is long gone but the lake and the dam are not. We hiked the 2.5 miles around the lake.

That's the dam in the background.

The stream that feeds the lake was a fun place to play.

Working hard to build a dam.

Success- given the limited material.

The perfect hike!! Waterfalls and a river to play in and ice cream in the middle! We stumbled upon a huge camp on the lake. They had a general store, gift shop, and most importantly a snack bar with delicious ice cream!!

Trip lesson about hiking- the girls will tolerate the hike if there's water. They might even pretent to like it if there's ice cream!
